Consultation: Request for feedback – Guidance Note: Effective Disclosure

The Financial Markets Authority is consulting on proposed guidance on how to prepare and present prospectuses and investment statements. The FMA proposes to issue a guidance note because:

• Its functions include promoting the confident and informed participation of businesses, investors and consumers in the financial markets. It believes this guidance note will assist that function;
  
• Issuers have asked for guidance on the FMAs powers, duties and functions, particularly following the enactment of the Financial Markets Authority Act;
  
• It wants to provide more guidance for issuers and their advisers as a means of assisting them to meet their obligations; and
  
• It is streamlining some processes within the FMA and wishes to share the changes with the financial markets.
