The Ombudsman has releases its report on its investigation into the extent to which personal details may be withheld from building consent information held by local authorities.

The Building Act 2004 requires that local authorities must keep and make available building consent applications and other documentation associated with building consents. This information includes personal details such as names and addresses.

Building consent information is available to any person who requests it, regardless of their reason for doing so.
